Hi Melissa, why does the IC Foodlist not work for me?

I get flares after eating apples. Can you tell me why?

My main trigger is holding my wee, why is this?

I have the impression that drinking sparkling water (instead of still water) makes my interstitial cystitis worse. Is that possible? I know that drinking water is very important for you, also if you suffer from interstitial cystitis. So I try to drink enough water, which is not very easy with my high urgency 😉 Anyway, if I drink still water my bladder feels fine. But if I drink soda water I get flares. Or is that just a coincidence and the flare is being triggered by something else like food????

Dx IC BPS with Hunners lesions. What can i use to help heal the lesions? I had them burnt but they are back. Tried everything from Elmiron to instillations. Im desperate to come off opiates for pain. I get so constipated from them to the extent my bowel stops working all together. One movement a fortnight so i almost stop eating. Ive tried laxatives, enemas, movicol even colonlytely bowel prep for colonoscopy which works but is traumatic and obv not recommended. Please Help me!

I don’t have a lot of frequency and urgency. Yet I have constant pain. How many people are like Me? I also have to take pain medications (extended release meds and Percocet) daily. Is this “normal”? I have tried almost all treatments including steroid injections for my Hunner’s lesions. Is there anything else new I should be trying?

Is there a Life expectancy for people with interstitial Cystitis?

Why am I in pain everyday. I am on a strict diet.

Why do myself, and all the ic girls I talk to, suffer from an ic baby? Our bellies bloat. I weigh 110 lbs and always look 5 months pregnant.

I am a recurring kidney stone sufferer having had two consecutive episodes last in 2016-17. I’ve pdrtTpdrtTbeen recommended a daily intake of 100ml o for fresh lemon juice as a kidney stone preventative. I also take a daily fish oil supplement. Wish I adhere to. In the last 2 months I have developed IC which is unfortunate.

Q: I’m wondering your thoughts on the lemon juice now that I have IC, is it bothersome and should I rethink this approach?

Many thanks.

I want to understand more about the hormonal connection to IC. I notice that leading up to my period, I start to have more flares and more sensitivity, but once my period starts, I am fine and basically flare free. Why is this the case? Also, I have eliminated gluten and that has helped considerably, but I’m still on Elavil because of frequency at night. I have tried to go off of it, but then I’m up every hour. I am making further dietary changes which are helping – no so much IC safe food, but mainly fresh vegetables, fruits,… Read more »

Dear Melanie, Thank you for your message and sorry for my late reply. Hormones (stress hormones like adrenalin and cortisol as wel as female hormones like estrogen) are directly related to your inflammatory response. The higher the amount of circulating hormones, the higher your inflammatory activity, the more likely it is you will experience a flare. If you would like to know more about this, then please contact me directly via Kind regards, Melissa
